AvtoVAZ to get former Nissan's St Pete plant in Jan–Feb

MOSCOW, Jan 10 (PRIME) – Nissan’s former plant in St. Petersburg will pass into the ownership of Russian carmaker AvtoVAZ in January–February, AvtoVAZ's President Maxim Sokolov said on Tuesday.

The Central Scientific Research Automobile and Automotive Engines Institute (NAMI) acquired all Nissan Russian assets, including the plant in St. Petersburg, in November. AvtoVAZ was assigned to provide maintenance services and procure components for the cars.

According to an earlier statement by AvtoVAZ, the company planned to relaunch the plant in July–December and to produce three car models under the Lada brand. AvtoVAZ was also in negotiations with foreign partners, including the Chinese.
